About dyslexia

Dyslexia is a neurological difference and can have a significant impact during education, in the workplace and in everyday life. As each person is unique, so is everyone’s experience of dyslexia. It can range from mild to severe, and it can co-occur with other learning differences. It usually runs in families and is a life-long condition.

Hints and Tips for finding Format Friendly reads for children on our online catalogue

Our Picture and Early Reader books have an easier to read format – they are highly illustrated and the text is often larger than in a normal paperback. The word count in Early Readers is small (less than 50 words per page) and these titles might be a good way to get younger readers engaged with books and reading. You can type Early Reader into the search box of our catalogue to see what is available, you can also search by series – here are a few great series to try: Reading Champion, BBC Earth – Do You Know, National Geographic Kids, Step into Reading and Ladybird Readers.
