eNewspaper downloads from Warwickshire Libraries have rocketed!
Warwickshire Libraries have a had a subscription to PressReader since 2013. PressReader ‘delivers an endless stream of top news stories, to read discuss and share’ and is free to library members. Last year, in the 12 months leading up to December 2016, 8,075 eNewspaper downloads were made by Warwickshire Library customers. Since then, new changes have been made to how users can access the eNewspapers including a new app, hotspots and 3 day downloads. Thanks to the improvements there has been an exponential increase in people accessing the eNewspapers which meant that by December 2017, downloads had reached 24,284 – an increase of 200%!
So what’s everyone reading? The most popular newspapers are the UK dailies, with the Daily Mail topping the charts as most downloaded. This reflects the report made by the national Statistics Portal last year which posted that between ‘October 2016 to September 2017… Daily Mail (including The Mail on Sunday) and its website dailymail.co.uk had the highest reach with an average of approximately 14.3 million individuals reached per month through both its print and digital formats.’
The most popular local titles are the Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Coventry Telegraphs.
PressReader also offers non-fiction titles and magazines. Topping the foreign newspaper charts are Le Monde, The Washington Post and Le Figaro.
