There are lots of things I love about Christmas. The colourful lights brightening up the December gloom, the same ten cheesy Christmas tunes that we hear on repeat everywhere (the old ones are the best…) the big tubs of Quality Street (save me the strawberry one!), the party dresses and OF COURSE…the selection of sparkly Christmas books that we proudly put on display every December in our libraries. I do love a good Christmas book and it feels as though there are more than ever out there for us to enjoy this festive season. As a chick-lit addict I am in reading heaven when the Christmas-themed romances and comedies hit our library shelves. If I read every Christmas book going I would still be working my way through them in July, but here are a few of my favourites, all of which are available to borrow from Warwickshire Libraries…

Seven Days of Us by Francesca Hornack

Spending time with family is what Christmas is all about – right? Yet, so many of us end up driving one another up the wall when we’re stuck together for long periods of time. I’m sure many of us will identify with that feeling and I’m very intrigued by the sound of this family drama with a twist…

An Almost Perfect Christmas by Nina Stibbe

We all need a little light relief at Christmas. By 3pm when everyone has fallen asleep, I think that An Almost Perfect Christmas would be the perfect pick-me-up (along with a strawberry Quality Street…)

The Christmas stocking and Other Stories by Katie Fforde

We’ve been lucky enough to have a festive offering from Katie for the past few years and The Christmas Stocking sounds just as fabulous as its predecessors. I also love the fact that this is a collection of short stories – just what you need over the busy festive season when you maybe only have time to dip in and out of a book.

The Cosy Christmas Chocolate Shop by Caroline Roberts

I cheated a little bit here – I love Caroline Roberts so the fact that her latest novel is a Christmas story is just an added bonus for me…I love her ‘Cosy’ series of books and I can’t wait to start reading this one. It ticks so many boxes for me; romance, Christmas and chocolate. Sorted.

Christmas Cakes and Mistletoe Nights by Carol Matthews

Carol Matthews has fast become my queen of Christmas fiction. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a Carol Matthews novel. She writes about the festive season so well, incorporating love, drama & a sprinkling of magic into her writing. She is one of my go-to authors and I cannot wait to put on my Christmas PJ’s and get stuck into her latest offering…

Happy Christmas reading!
